My word of the month is SKEPTIMIST, an optimist with a healthy dose of realism. I can’t take total credit for this, as it is currently Psychologies Magazine’s word of the month…but I liked it, so I stole it. (Psychologies Magazine, September Issue, p. 32)

In my wayward youth, I was a rose tinted glasses type of gal. As a result, when life didn’t go the way I had imagined so perfectly in my mind, I would be bitterly disappointed and take a while to recover. The Skeptimist doesn’t expect the worst (Pessimism), nor the best (positive thinking gone wild). So my older, hopefully wiser self, has realized that hoping for the best whilst managing expectations is ultimately the healthiest and most useful approach.
